Cannabinoids are a group of closely related compounds that act on cannabinoid receptors in the body, unique to cannabis (or help). The body creates compounds called endocannabinoids, while hemp produces phytocannabinoids. 

Medical Properties of Cannabinoids 

According to a 2013 review published in the British Journal of Clinical Pharmacology, studies have found (cannabinoids) to posses the following medical properties:

Antiemetic (reduces nausea and vomiting)

Anticonvulsant (Suppresses seizure activity)

Antipsychotic (Combats psychosis disorders)

Anxiolytic / Anti-depressant (Combats anxiety and depression)

Anit-tumoral / Anti-cancer (Combats tumor and cancer cells)

Antioxidant (Combats free radical damage)

Anti-inflammatory (Comats inflammatory disorders) 

In 2003, the US government obtained US Patent 6630507 titled, “Cannabinoids as antioxidants and neuroprotectants.” The patent claims:

“Cannabinoids have been found to have antioxidant properties… useful in the treatment of.. (a) wide variety of… diseases, such as… inflammatory and autoimmune diseases.. (and) to have…. application as neuroprotectants… in the treatment of neurodegenerative diseases….” 

The Endocannabinoid System is perhaps the most important physiologic system involved in establishing and maintaining human health. Although the endocannabinoid system affects a wide variety of biological processes, experts believe that its overall function is to regulate homeostasis.

Functions of the Endocannabinoid System

Discovered in 1990, the endocannabinoid system (ECS) is located in the brain and throughout the central and peripheral nervous systems consisting of neuromodulatory lipids and their receptors.
