What is the Difference in Full-Spectrum and Broad-Spectrum CBD Products?

From reduced anxiety and pain to improved sleep, CBD has been proven to have many health benefits. If you’re thinking about trying CBD for yourself, you should first determine whether you want full-spectrum or broad-spectrum CBD products. Here is the difference between the two:

What is Full-Spectrum?

Full-spectrum CBD contains amounts of every component found in the cannabis plant. This means that Full-Spectrum products can contain small amounts of tetrahydrocannabinol, or better known as THC. For a full-spectrum product to be federally approved, it must contain less than 0.3% THC. In states where cannabis is fully legal, you may find full-spectrum products with higher levels of THC.

What is Broad-Spectrum?

Broad-spectrum CBD also contains other components of the cannabis plant, but it does not contain any THC. Broad-spectrum products fall in between full-spectrum and CBD isolate and offer plenty of benefits despite the lack of a few cannabis plant components. If you’re looking to enjoy many of the benefits of full-spectrum, while avoiding THC, this is the product for you.

CBD Isolate

For those wondering, CBD isolate products only contain CBD, and no other components of the cannabis plant. No THC, flavonoids or terpenes which can be found in both full and broad-spectrum. While CBD isolate is the purest form of CBD, it is shown not to provide nearly as many benefits as full and broad-spectrum CBD products.

Pros and Cons of Full-Spectrum

The biggest pro of using full-spectrum products is that you may experience the “entourage effect,” thanks to all the components working together. The theory behind the “entourage effect” is that when all the components like CBD, THC, flavonoids and terpenes work together, you’ll experience the most beneficial effects. A downside to full-spectrum products is that, when used incorrectly, you may experience a feeling of being high. This is why it’s important to take the recommended dosage and not too much. Due to the small amount of THC, full-spectrum products can show up on drug tests, so make sure you communicate that you’re using CBD before.

Pros and Cons of Broad-Spectrum

If you’re looking to avoid any THC components and not run the risk of experiencing feeling high, broad-spectrum is the perfect CBD product. You may still experience some of the “entourage effects” with broad-spectrum but it’s not as certain as a full-spectrum product.

One downside is that you may not reep as many benefits as you would with a full-spectrum. Without all the cannabis plant components, it may take longer for you to see the effects of these CBD products.

Now that you know the difference between full-spectrum and broad-spectrum CBD products, you can decide which one works best for you. Check out all of our products in-store and online and try the ones that fit your needs!
